How Lynk-Gel Transformed One Artist’s Lash Career

Since 2014, this talented lash artist has been redefining beauty, connection, and confidence one lash set at a time. From her early struggles mastering Mega Volume fans to the game-changing introduction of illumino’s Lynk-Gel LED Lash System, her journey is a story of passion, persistence, and transformation.

From Intimidated Beginner to Empowered Business Owner

When did you first get into the lash industry?
August 1, 2014.

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when starting out?

When I first started doing lashes, Mega Volume fans completely intimidated me. They looked so effortless in training, but in reality, they were anything but easy to master. I remember sitting in the shop for hours, one of my favorite movie series playing in the background, just practicing fan after fan. It took patience, persistence, and a lot of trial and error — but eventually, it all clicked. That moment when your technique finally comes together is something every lash artist remembers.

How has your beauty career evolved since then?

After gaining experience and confidence working in two different lash salons, I finally took the leap and opened my own salon suite. It’s been one of the most empowering and rewarding decisions of my career. Having my own space allows me to express my creativity, connect deeply with clients, and build a brand that reflects my passion for lash artistry.

The Heart of Lash Artistry: Passion, Purpose, and Connection

What keeps you passionate about lashing every day?
Lashing isn’t just something I do — it’s truly a part of who I am. Every day, I get to help women look and feel their absolute best, and that’s what keeps me passionate about what I do.
There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing a client open her eyes for the first time after a set and watching her face light up. That confidence, that instant glow — it never gets old.

Beyond the beauty, I love the art of lashing itself. It’s meditative, creative, and ever-evolving. It challenges me to keep learning and growing, and that’s something I truly thrive on.

But what fuels me the most is the connection with my clients. Over the years, many of them have become like family. We laugh, share stories, and support each other through life’s ups and downs — all while I do what I love.

At the end of the day, lashing is about more than just lashes. It’s about confidence, connection, and creativity — and that’s what keeps me excited to pick up my tweezers every single day.

Lash Artistry as an Experience

What do you love most about being a lash artist?
One of the things I love most about being a lash artist is the connection I get to build with each client who sits in my chair. Every appointment is more than just applying lashes — it’s about creating an experience that’s personal, intentional, and tailored to each individual.
There’s an art to lashing that goes beyond technique. It’s about paying attention to the smallest details, understanding each client’s unique features and style, and crafting a look that enhances their natural beauty while preserving the health of their lashes.

What’s your favorite part of lashing?
Creating the look, building client relationships, and seeing clients’ reactions.

Advice for Aspiring Lash Artists

If you could give one piece of advice to new lash artists, what would it be?
Keep refining your craft, keep learning, and keep growing your awareness of what your clients truly need.
Invest your time and energy into understanding your ideal clients — the ones who value your work, your artistry, and your heart. When you pour into them with intention and care, they’ll see the difference and invest right back into you.
Lashing isn’t just about perfect sets; it’s about building trust, connection, and confidence — both in your clients and in yourself.

Discovering Lynk-Gel: The Game-Changer

What made you decide to try Lynk-Gel in the first place?
Every lash artist has that one client — the “problem child,” as mine used to lovingly call herself. I adored her, but no matter what I did, her retention just wouldn’t last. I’d spend two hours on what was supposed to be a “fill,” trying everything I could think of — lighter lashes, shorter lashes, washing and priming, then trying not priming, different face products and makeup — nothing made a difference.

By the two-week mark, her lashes would be down to 30%, sometimes even less. One appointment she came back with barely ten lashes left per eye — it felt like a brand-new set every two weeks.

She even asked if I could offer weekly fills — something I’d never considered before! That’s when I knew I had to find a better solution.

Enter Lynk-Gel.

When I finally decided to give it a try, I was hopeful but cautious. Fast forward a few weeks — my “problem child” came back after three weeks with 50% of her lashes still intact! We were shocked and thrilled.

No more frustration. No more feeling defeated. Lynk-Gel completely changed the game for me — and for her. It truly saved the day and restored my confidence in retention for even the most challenging clients.

The Lynk-Gel Learning Curve

What was your first impression during training, and how did it feel compared to traditional methods?
When I first started training with Lynk-Gel, I’ll be honest — I was nervous. My first thought was, “Oh no… I pinch my lashes! How on earth am I supposed to do that while holding this thing in my hand?”

To ease into it, I started with a wet set. It felt so different from what I was used to, but once I got the hang of it, things started to click — especially with the newer 4.0 version.

The updated handpiece is lighter, easier to hold, and more comfortable to maneuver. The best part? I can still pinch my volume fans when I want to!

Now, I actually prefer it — it feels more efficient, precise, and way less stressful.

Results That Speak for Themselves

How has Lynk-Gel changed your lash game or business?
By introducing Lynk-Gel, I was able to confidently raise my prices and position my service as a true luxury experience. It allowed me to attract my ideal clients — those who appreciate long-lasting quality and are willing to invest in it.
Now, instead of worrying about clients coming back every two weeks, I can extend most of my fills to three weeks without sacrificing results.

What results or feedback have you noticed from clients since switching to Lynk-Gel?
Better retention, quicker application, and less sensitivity.

How would you rate the Lynk-Gel system?

Safety: 10

Retention: 10

Efficiency: 10

Favorite Tools and Inspirations

What’s your favorite illumino product you can’t live without?
Hummingbird tweezers — they work very well with the device.

What inspired you to become a trainer with illumino?
I’m not currently a trainer, but So Jin has inspired me to become an inventor. I’ve been constantly thinking about how I could improve my ergonomics and organization. I’ve been testing out some ideas that work great for me personally — hopefully, I’ll be sharing them with the world one day.

What’s your one thing the world should know about the Lynk-Gel method?
The bond is stronger than any traditional glue I’ve tried. Temperature, humidity, and face products don’t affect retention — it’s much more client-friendly.

Any “aha” moments you’ve seen with clients?
One thing I like better about using Lynk-Gel is that I can stay on one eye versus always going back and forth between eyes. It makes my application faster.

Confidence, Freedom, and Growth

How has being a Certified Lynk-Gel Artist expanded your career and confidence?
The certification not only elevated my artistry but also gave me the confidence to raise my rates. My hourly rate is now $110, which allows me to take a few extra days off without sacrificing income.
It’s been life-changing — I feel refreshed, inspired, and reminded why I fell in love with lashes in the first place.

Describe your lash style in three words:
Long-lasting, safe, and beautiful.

Balancing Passion and Self-Care

What’s your go-to way to unwind after a long lashing day?
After a long day of lashing, I unwind with my family — my husband, mother-in-law, three teenagers, and our dogs. We share dinner, laughter, and stories.
Then I focus on self-care: walking on my walking pad, using my vibration plate, taking a refreshing shower, and finishing the day in my massage chair.
It’s how I reset and stay energized for the next day.

Do you have a dream client you’d love to lash one day?
I already have my dream clients — I’m beyond blessed. They’re consistent, reliable, and truly appreciative of what I offer as a Certified Lynk-Gel Artist.

What’s one guilty pleasure after a long day?
My massage chair by Human Touch.

A Message to Fellow Lash Artists

For the first 8 years of doing lashes, I didn’t feel much discomfort, but after 11 years, my body started sending me clear signals — aches and pains I wish I’d noticed earlier. Posture and self-care are crucial for longevity in this industry.

Also, never be afraid to make changes for your happiness — leaving an unhappy work environment for self-employment was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Invest in your skills, your body, and your mindset — it’s what will keep you thriving.
