This blog outlines everything that you need to do Lynk-Gel lashes.
You probably already have almost everything you need to start using the Lynk-Gel Method. But here’s a few items you might want to pick up to help add the Lynk-Gel Lash service to your existing menu.
We always recommend that you take our certified Lynk-Gel training. We go over safety, proper use, tips and tricks, all sorts of additional information and more during your personalized training. Then after getting additional free training modules, discounted glue and accessories, and a spot on our lash artist directory. Additionally you will get exclusive behind the scenes at illumino, use of our logos/trademarks, plus the ability to be a Lynk-Gel Ambassador for free products! With our online/in-person training options, there’s an option for everyone and we want to help you upgrade your clients to the best LED lashes on the market!
Or you may purchase a Lynk-Gel Kit from our website and teach yourself. It does come with the online theory, but it doesn't come with the additional perks a certified artist would get.
Regardless of whether taking the certified Lynk-Gel Training or you purchase the kit, there are a few items required to purchase to finish off your kit. We want to make sure you have what you need to provide your clients with stress-free lashes. We're going to take a look at what these items are, why you need them, and what our suggestions are and why.
Most Important! The Power Source.
Our Lynk-Gel Kit does not come with its own power source or cable, but you can easily source both yourself. However, there are several options available, which can get a little confusing. So we'd like to start by explaining the differences in these options. Without following our recommendations, you may break the device or it may turn off prematurely, causing frustration and issues completing Lynk-Gel lashes. If using a different USB cable/battery pack than recommended your device may malfunction, voiding its warranty and causing a new device to purchase.
Warning! Do NOT plug the Lynk-Gel Device directly into the wall. The only way we know to safely plug it in without breaking the device is with option 3. If you break your device by connecting the wrong power source, you will need to purchase a new one.
1. Power Banks
Our #1 recommendation is to get the Voltaic power bank. This little power bank has an 'always on' function that ensures that your device will not turn off while you work with it. Other power banks may turn off without the proper setup, but this is the easiest no-stress solution. Any other battery packs not listed on our Amazon list has the potential to break your device, causing it to dim or not turn off and void the warranty.
2. USB Cords
We highly prefer the extreme flexible short USB cables because they're comfortable and lightweight. And you can use this with the Voltaic without any additional setup! We also have other recommended cables on our list. You can choose between any of them. Any other USB cords not on our Amazon list could break your device, causing it to dim or not turn off voiding the warranty.
3. Wall USB Plug with Hub
The last recommended way to use your Lynk-Gel Device is by connecting this wall hub to your device. This doesn't require any additional setup, but it does limit you to working by a wall outlet. However, if you don't plan on moving around and you have a convenient setup, this may be the easiest option for you!
Lynk-Gel Kit
The Lynk-Gel Kit includes everything you need to start providing your clients with the best retention lashes you've ever seen! What's included in your kit and what do you still need to purchase? We'll cover that extensively. Let’s start with the important products – the Lynk-Gel LED Curing Device and Lynk-Gel Glue. First the Lynk-Gel Device: this is the LED device that we invented and developed for lash artists to use to cure our Lynk-Gel Adhesive. The Lynk-Gel Device keeps isolation tweezers in place as you work with magnets, but you may attach your tweezers with tape if they're non-magnetic. Your LED lash kit provides you with one isolation tweezer/glue, while your Lynk-Gel LED lash training provides you with two of each!
Included in your Lynk-Gel 4.0 Kit:- 1x Lynk-Gel Device
- 1x Full Color Quickstart Guide
- 1x Full Digital Manual
- 1x Pink Carrying Case
- 1x Lynk-Gel Glue
- 1x Lash Cleanser
- 1x Lash Prep
- 1x Lemon Sorbet Cream Remover
- 1x Isolation Tweezer (of your choice!)
- 1x Box of Green Eye Gel Pads
- 3x Pairs of Tip-Mops
- 3x Disposable Cleansing Brushes in Bags
Tweezers
Next is tweezers. If you do lashes already, you have tweezers. You probably even have your favorites, some for occasional use, and some you put in a drawer and forget about. While no guarantees your tweezers will work, if they're un-coated metal then they’re probably magnetic and will work perfectly with the LED curing device. If they’re coated, you’ll probably have to bookmark them – which is covered in our Lynk-Gel training. Or you can just look through our collection of 16 different tweezers. All of our tweezers are lightweight and uncoated - so they're magnetic. Another feature is there's a wingtip on the end to counterbalance the weight making them comfortable to hold for extended periods of time.
Lashes
Of course, we can’t forget about the lash extensions themselves. Nowadays, you need to have eyelash extensions to put on! Lynk-Gel doesn’t require any special lashes, and will work with Classic, Volume, and Premades! The only lashes that it won’t work with are pop lashes (EZ fans). Lynk-Gel is actually even better than traditional glues for premades because it will freeze them in place. The best part for the handmade volume fan makers out there is once you turn on the LED light, the fans will stay open.
If you make your own handmade volume fans, the Lynk-Gel is perfect for that too, except that you cannot use the pinching method.
Supplies
After that, we have our other basic lash accessories. The Lynk-Gel Kit comes with several full sized samples of illumino lash supplies, whether you purchase the kit or take the certified training. The just device and glue does not come with these. Look above for the full kit contents.
At this point the only thing you probably don’t have, and we don’t sell are the glue coin foils. The Lynk-Gel glue reacts and starts curing prematurely, so we use colored hair foils that are cut with a 1.25” hole punch for the glue. We recommend using colored foils instead of silver because it makes it easier to see the clear Lynk-Gel Adhesive.
Light
Finally, the last absolute necessity that you probably don’t have yet is to do Lynk-Gel lashes with is a light filter. Because the Lynk-Gel glue dries when it’s exposed to light, you’ll need to use a filter on your working lamp. We suggest using this filter which can be cut to whatever size that you need.
Extras
A couple of final items that aren’t necessary, but are helpful, are a handheld heater and a mini fridge. The Lynk-Gel Adhesive must be kept cold. Therefore, having a mini fridge nearby your work area (your lash trolley) allows you to refresh your working bead of glue every 15-20 minutes. Otherwise you’ll have to run back to your fridge every time you need more glue. It’s also helpful to finish the service with a handheld mini heater. Just hand the heater to your client (while their eyes are closed) to make sure that the glue is completely dry before opening. The heating actions ensures that the underside of the lashes are set before they open their eyes.
Now you know that most of what you need for doing Lynk-Gel lashes is the same as doing traditional lashes! Most additional items needed are included in your training kit, or can be found cheap online or at your local beauty supply stores. So, what are you waiting for? Come join us in person or online, and take a Lynk-Gel training class! Your clients will love the best retention they’ve ever had, and you’ll avoid having stickies, working faster, and being able to increase your prices!
Conclusion
You’ve scrolled through the posts online, read the blog, seen the results, and you definitely want to start offering Lynk-Gel lashes yourself (and if you haven’t, check here to see the benefits!). However, don't be intimidated because it requires so many specialized requirements, specific lashes, and equipment for getting started! Now you should know that it’s not the case and you probably have at least 85% of what you need to do Lynk-Gel right now.
